Asean Skill Competition (ASC) is an implementation of agreement between the ministers of labor (10th
ASEAN in Singapore in 1994). ASC is an ASEAN level skill competition, as the pathway to World Skill Competitions (WSC).
These two competitions were held once in two years in turns; ASC is held in even years and WSC is held in odd years.
Participant's countries that join ASC are: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam,
Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Philippines. Previous ASC which has already implemented are:
- ASC I in 1995 held in Malaysia
- ASC II in 1998 held in Philippine
- ASC III in 2000 held in Thailand
- ASC IV in 2002 held in Indonesia
- ASC V in 2004 held in Vietnam
- ASC VI in 2006 held in Brunei Darussalam
- ASC VII in 2008 held in Malaysia
- ASC VIII in 2010 held in Thailand (the next event which is being prepared)
In the last ASC that held in Malaysia, Indonesia get 6 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 4 bronze medals and 17 Diploma.
For ASC VIII in Thailand, there are 20 fields of competition:

Selection process in Indonesia is held by The Ministry of Labor and Transmigration (Depnakertrans). Other than doing their own selection process, Depnakertrans cooperates with several institutions. Depnakertrans cooperates with BINUS University for the materials related to Information Technology. The fields of competition in BNSC are:
- Information Technology - Software Application
- Mechanical Engineering CADD (Computer Aided Drawing and Design)
- Web Design
- Graphic Design Technology
This Competition is intended to improve motivation and to develop talent of Indonesian young students in Information Technology and Design. The winners will be asked to participate in selection process to represent Indonesia in 8th ASEAN SKILLS COMPETITION (ASC) on November 2010 in Thailand.
For each fields of competition, we will select 3 people as the winners to join the early development training (around 3 months) (Please be reminded that you must join the training if you become a winner). After the training completed, the winners will compete against the candidates from Depdiknas. The winners from this later competition will represent Indonesia in 8th ASC (after more training about 8 months).
